Category: howard miller clock oil
The reason a mechanical clock movement often stops is due to the oil between the plate and the gear pivots drying up or becoming clogged with dust. If this is the reason your clock has stopped, a drop of this oil on each pivot will get your clock running again. The oilers you should use have an extra long needle to reach any part of a clock movement, even those in a grandfather clock. Do not bother with oilers that have short needles, as you will not be able to reach those hard-to-reach places.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We recommend using 2 oilers filled with 5mL of synthetic clock oil to ensure your clock is properly lubricated and running smoothly.
The dried-up or clogged oil between the plate and the gear pivots is often the culprit behind a stopped mechanical clock movement. Applying a drop of the appropriate oil to each pivot can get your clock running again. When selecting oilers, opt for those with extra-long needles that can access even the most hard-to-reach areas of a clock movement, including in a grandfather clock. Avoid oilers with short needles, as they will not be able to reach those difficult spots.
